We at TS-IS have set out to provide a comprehensive forum for both the Transsexual and Intersex communities, with the additional aim of healing the past divisions between the two comunities.

TS-IS was conceived by two former members of the Transsexual UK working group Julie H and Sue M-B. Transsexual UK is a yahoo group dedicated to the support of transsexuals over the age of 16. Experience of running Yahoo email lists taught us that there are e a number of shortcomings with Yahoo groups, not the least, with only 20 meg of web space. We do so rapidly ran out of space on the yahoo servers.

We discovered that it would cost us no more to actually do it, as it would to do a feasibility study. So we said what the hell lets do it anyway, and see what we can come up with.

Our aim is to provide a comprehencive reference for both the Transsexual and Intersex comunities.

We aim to have up to date medial and hormone information, in the form a comprehencive library together with links to specialist groups who specialise in the various IS conditions.

We aim to have the cooperation and tacit support of the Gender Identity Clinics. So far Charring Cross Hospital (CHX) is providing up to date documentation.

We have had to change forum types and now that the portal software is no longer working and the development team has disbanded we have had to write our own simple portal, development of which started 22 October 2007
